Events & Experiences at The Old Inn

The Old Inn sits right on the shores of Loch Gairloch. More than just a place to rest, we are your gateway to the rugged soul of the North West Highlands.

Seek the energy of a lively folk session or the quiet solitude of a mountain path. Whatever your preference, we invite you to join us. Whether you are a local or visiting from across the UK, come and immerse yourself in the natural rhythm of Highland life.

As a cornerstone of authentic Highland hospitality, we take pride in being a vibrant hub for the community. From artisan-led workshops to evenings filled with song, there is always a story being told within our stone walls.

Upcoming Events: Music & More

There is a particular magic to an evening of live music at The Old Inn. We love the relaxed, spirited atmosphere that comes with hosting fantastic live talent—from our popular Pasta Nights to informal folk sessions.

Live Music: Durango Blue

Date: Saturday, 21st March 2026

We are very pleased to welcome back Durango Blue, an original Acoustic Rock and Americana duo. Based in the Scottish Borders, this duo has performed at major festivals like Belladrum. They are now returning to our corner of the Highlands to share their soulful, roots-inspired sound.

It promises to be a wonderful evening for locals and visitors alike. If you are touring the NC500, it is the perfect way to spend a night during your stay.

Meet the Makers: Artisan Workshops

A local maker teaching a craft workshop, showcasing the variety of creative events in Gairloch hosted at the Inn.

The Gairloch harbour area is a hive of creativity, home to several small artisan craft workshops and talented makers who draw inspiration from the sea and the heather. We collaborate closely with these craftspeople to arrange unique workshops and hands-on experiences for our guests.

Whether it’s pottery, traditional crafts, or visual arts, these sessions allow you to connect with the local culture and take a piece of the Highlands home with you.

Step into the Wild: Self-Guided Walks

The famous Waterfall Walk in Flowerdale Glen, a top outdoor experience for those attending events in Gairloch.

For many, the draw of a hotel in Gairloch is the immediate access to the great outdoors. At The Old Inn, the adventure begins the moment you step out of our front door.

The nearby Flowerdale Estate offers a sanctuary of ancient woodland and hidden glens. We highly recommend the “Waterfall Walk.” This is a gentle but breathtaking route that wanders through the estate’s historic grounds. In addition, we want to help you explore even further. To that end, we have curated 30 bespoke route cards covering the finest treks within a 30-minute drive. From dramatic views of the Torridon peaks to gentle strolls along tranquil coastal paths, we have a trail for every ability.

Winter at The Old Inn: A Seasonal Sanctuary

The Old Inn during a winter holiday, offering a warm base for seasonal events in Gairloch and the Highlands.

When the peaks of the Torridon mountains take on their winter coats, our historic Highland inn becomes the ultimate retreat for Winter Highland Holidays. Winter here is a season of crisp air and magnificent light, offering a fresh perspective on the landscape that many summer visitors never get to see.

Throughout the winter months, we host a dedicated seasonal programme, transforming the Inn into a centre for learning and adventure. We are proud to host expert local artisans and instructors who run their professional courses and workshops directly from The Old Inn:

  • Highland Crafting: Join us for hands-on sessions in the intricate skills of tapestry weaving or create floral displays using foraged winter greenery.
  • Culinary Arts: Sharpen your skills in our kitchen with masterclasses in artisan bread-making and traditional pâtisserie.
  • Winter Mountaineering: Experience the hills at their most majestic. We host professional local guides who run winter skills courses and guided mountain days right from our doorstep, perfect for those looking to safely navigate the snow-dusted ridges.

After a day of exploration or creativity, return to the Inn to warm up with a dram from our extensive whisky bar, where we take pride in sharing our collection of rare and local malts. Experience the Highlands at their most authentic—majestic, invigorating, and deeply comforting.
