At The Old Inn, we believe the best stories are told by those who have stayed with us. Whether you joined us for a night on the North Coast 500, a seafood feast after a day in Flowerdale Glen, or a quiet pint by the fire, your feedback helps us keep our 1700s heritage alive.

Below, you’ll find live links to our latest reviews on Google and Freetobook, along with some recent highlights from our guestbook.

The Spirit of The Old Inn: Behind the Reviews

When you read through the experiences of our past guests, a few themes consistently shine through: the warmth of our welcome, the freshness of our Highland fare, and our unique position at the heart of Gairloch’s maritime history. But what does a stay at The Old Inn truly feel like?

A True Highland Welcome

For over 200 years, this coaching inn has stood as a sanctuary for weary travellers. Whether you are tackling the North Coast 500 or seeking a quiet retreat in Wester Ross, our goal remains the same: to provide a relaxed, “home-from-home” atmosphere. Our staff pride themselves on being more than just a service team; they are local experts ready to suggest the best walking trails in Flowerdale Glen or the quietest spots on Big Sand beach. We believe that hospitality should be personal, which is why so many of our guests return year after year.

Gairloch’s Natural Larder

We are lucky to be surrounded by one of the finest natural larders in the world. At The Old Inn, “honest Highland food” means respecting the seasons and the hard work of our local producers. With the harbour just steps away, our seafood is as fresh as the Atlantic air. We don’t believe in over-complicating things; if the langoustines were in the Minch this morning, they should be on your plate this evening. Whether it is a bowl of local mussels by the fire or a traditional Highland steak, we focus on quality ingredients served without pretension.

A Haven for Four-Legged Friends (and Their Owners)

We know that for many of our guests, a holiday isn’t complete without their dog. That’s why we offer a selection of dedicated dog-friendly en-suite rooms and ensure that well-behaved pets are just as welcome in our bar as their owners. With a crackling log fire in the winter and the sea air just outside the door, it’s the perfect environment for every member of the family.

However, we also understand that some guests prefer a pet-free stay. To ensure everyone is comfortable, we maintain dog-free bedrooms and dining areas as well. This allows us to provide the best of both worlds: a traditional, dog-friendly Highland welcome alongside quiet, pet-free spaces for those who prefer them.

We invite you to experience the magic of the West Highlands for yourself. After all, the best review is the one you write after your own stay.

Guest Highlights

A Warm Welcome for the Whole Family

“Amazingly friendly pub. We stopped in with two large dogs, a four-year-old, and two adults after a busy day on the beach. The staff were super and the food and drinks were excellent. It’s a lovely location and we would highly recommend a visit!” — Barney Bonner

Excellent Food & Accommodating Staff

“My wife and I had a meal at The Old Inn last evening. The food was excellent and the staff could not have been more accommodating. We brought our dog and he sat next to our table in the bar; both members of staff on duty even came to ask if he needed a bowl of water. We would certainly visit again.” — Dave Ellis

Great Value & Varied Menu

“We stayed next door and came in for dinner and drinks twice. Really excellent food—we tried the haggis, malfatti, and chicken makhani—and it was all good value. Great wine and beers, and a wonderful team who were so helpful with everything. Definitely recommend.” — Emma Fleming
