About your artist
Amanda (Mandy) McIntosh is a talented ceramic artist and botanical illustrator. She is based in Gairloch, in the heart of the Scottish Highlands. Mandy specialises in sculpting porcelain works that blend the mythical and whimsical. These pieces celebrate the beauty and humour in nature through fine craftsmanship and storytelling. Furthermore, she draws deep inspiration from the local environment. This includes the dramatic sea, rugged mountains, and rich folklore. Consequently, Mandy’s creations often feature imaginative creatures. For example, her iconic “Kelcornopus of Loch Gairloch” is a fantastical blend of kelpie, unicorn, and octopus.
In addition to her ceramics, Mandy has a passion for botanical illustration, which she incorporates into her clay designs. She recently completed a diploma in botanical illustration from the Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) and is a member of the Scottish Society of Botanical Artists.
